Interesting Cydia tweaks for your iPhone/iPad

Cydia offers tons of tweaks for your newly jail broken idevice and here below I will list my favourites. And no these tweaks are not listed in any particular order.

Activator + SBSettings

iOS 5 NotificationCenter with SBSettings, Weekillbackground and Weeslide.
SBSettings gives you fast and easy access to quickly toggle device specific functions. Like quickly turning 3g or wifi on and off. Ever since iOS 5 it has gotten better, now you can integrate SBSettings toggles right into the notification center. This way it looks and feels very similar to Android’s notification center.

Activator is a centralized settings center for button and gesture shortcuts. Basically it allows us to choose how we want to activate for example SBSettings. However it also allows us to almost completely remap iOS default shortcuts.

AlwaysClose

With this all the icons in the appswitcher will always have their close button visible. Now you don’t have to hold down your finger and wait for jiggle mode to quickly close individual apps.

AndroidLock XT

Gives you an Android like pattern based lock screen.

Backgrounder

Take full control over how your tasks are backgrounded and even enable forced backgrounding for apps that do not support it.

BrowserChooser

I hate Safari on all platforms and with this I can easily set a different default browser.

BytaFont

Lets you download and set different fonts for your idevice. My favourite fonts being of course monospaced ones like Terminus and Inconsolata.

Color Keyboard HD

Lets you choose between many different color themes for your keyboard. I prefer having black keys with white text since it is a much better contrast than the default soft grey look.

FakeClockUp

Allows you to increase the speed of the UIKit animations. Meaning that you can make almost all idevice animations execute much faster. I love this, no longer do I have to suffer through the painfully slow animations to get things done. Actually the only animation that annoys me is the multitasking slide animation. Which is painfully slow, especially if I keep multitasking between 3 or more open apps. And no this does not in anyway affect actual idevice performance.

FolderEnhancer

Since I keep my apps meticulously organized within folders. I have to install this tweak since it allows much better folders but probably best of all it makes them much much faster to open and close.

Gridlock

Allows you to place icons freely within the defined grid. A must have if you want to have an organized look.

MultiIconMover

Lets you select multiple icons and move them all at once. No more dragging and dropping icons one by one.

OpenSSH

Gives me terminal access to my iDevices.

Springtomize 2

Allows you to configure tons of springboard settings.

WeeKillBackground for NotificationCenter

Lets you quickly close all apps from the notification center.

WeeSlide for NotificationCenter

Puts a brightness slider in the notification center.

Winterboard

Allows you to theme the look of your idevice. However experience has taught me that most themes are either quite unprofessional and/or are incomplete. But for the majority of the themes I’d say that they are just horrible and the creators need to put a bit more effort into it.

Ayecon

This is the only theme I can recommend at the moment. Since it is the only theme I’ve come across that feels professional and looks good.

Zephyr

Allows you to do multitasking with swipe gestures rather than always relying on the home button. Better yet it allows you to free up the home button for other functions.
